EMERGENCY HELP TIPS
ALWAYS USE A SURGE PROTECTOR
(Especially with computerized machines)
1 IF MACHINE DOES NOT SEW
Make sure the plug is properly connected into the wall outlet. Check to insure
that the clutch release knob is tightened after winding bobbin.
2 IF A MACHINE DOES NOT SEW PROPERLY
Check the upper threading, be sure thread is through the tension dial assembly.
Check lower threading, make sure the thread is snapped into the tension spring.
Always make sure the pressure foot is lowered before starting to sew. Check the
stitch length is still set at the proper setting. Insure the feed dogs are up.
Check the clamp screw is not loose, causing the upper and lower thread to not
loop.
3 IF NEEDLE BREAKS
Always make certain the presser foot is the correct one for the stitch being
sewn and that the needle is inserted properly. Machines must be threaded
correctly, consult your operator's manual.
4 IF LOOPS FORM ON FABRIC
Tension on the upper thread or lower thread may be set incorrectly. Insure
tensions are not too loose. If the thread loops on bottom of the material, check
the upper threading. If the thread loops on top of the material, check the
bobbin case threading.
5 IF FABRIC PUCKERS
Tension on upper thread or lower thread may be set incorrectly. Tensions
should not be set too loose or too tight. If the bobbin case is not properly set
into the shuttle, the thread will jam. Use the correct needle size in combination
with the fabric.
6 IF MACHINE DOES NOT WIND BOBBIN
Make sure the bobbin winder shaft is pushed to the right. Make sure the clutch
release knob is loosened.
7 IF UPPER THREAD BREAKS
Examine the upper threading as it must be accurate, check for bent or improper
insertion of the needle. Check the tension setting.
8 IF LOWER THREAD BREAKS
Check if the lower thread is entangled in the shuttle. Make sure bobbin is not
threaded improperly in bobbin case. Lower thread tention may be too tight.
9 IF MACHINE SKIPS STITCHES
Examine the needle, make sure it is not bent, dull or inserted backwards. Check
that the correct needle size is used in combination with the fabric. Check the
threading and rethread if necessary.
10 IF MACHINE DOES NOT MAKE BUTTONHOLE
For best results, attach the button hole foot. Carefully follow the insturctions in
your owner's manual. Every machine functions differently for making a button
hole.
11 IF THREAD OR MATERIAL JAMS
NEVER force the hand wheel to free up jammed material or thread. This will
will cause serious internal damage, strip gears and cause timing problems.
Carefully remove the thread and/or the material by removing the bobbin case
and/or the needle plate.
